2020 SEASON AWARDS: “And the WINNERS are…”

The 2019-2020 season will be always remembered as the one disrupted by Covid. FDs yet managed to complete it much to the satisfaction of the fans and the wider community. The MASTER GAME 6 was a tonic which gave players the strength to carry on and complete yet another remarkable year. One of our milestones, the SEASON AWARDS, could not be forgotten without causing major upset, if only for the repercussions on the wider economy and the boost to consumption through the related merchandise. THE CLUB firmly put his reputation and resources behind it so that the show could go on.
One technicality: as FDs season never ends, , unlike major leagues in the world, these awards relate to calendar year 2020 rather than the traditional August/May 2019-2020 and that will be the case going forward. Without much a-do, I’m pleased to announce that THE WINNERS are:
TOP SCORER
Johannes
By virtue of his skills, athleticism and consistent presence Johannes was always one of the favourite to win the golden boot despite not being a pure striker. He has scored a ridiculous amount of goals in the season in any possible way. The reason why the number is not disclosed is, courtesy of the CLUB, not to embarrass FIFA who has already handed the precious award to Ciro Immobile, ahead of Lewandowski and Ronaldo.
Nevertheless such achievement is well reflected, as in previous occasions (see ALBO D’ORO below), in the commercial value of Johannes which would at least now pair the cumulated one of the three players mentioned below. A radiant Johannes commented: “After winning the Player of the year in 2018, to double up as Top Scorer is a dream come true. I long for the 2021 season to start so I can try the treble by winning the Goal of the Season but with keepers like Paride and Tony L. is not going to be a walk in the (Kensington) Park. I’m working hard to further improve and I note my idle right foot has started to respond to solicitations, meaning scoring goals. Defenders beware!”.
When asked about his best skill Johannes replied slyly: ‘It really starts before the match when teams are assembled: I always make sure not to play against my Dad…’.
GOAL OF THE SEASON
Khaled Alq.
When the ball is up in the air in the box there is not better owner than Khaled. He can figure out what to do with it and how well before any defender, keeper included, can realise what’s going on. As a beach soccer player Khaled knows it all when it comes to play the ball high with his feet and landing softly with the ground before he is submerged by his jubilant teammates who can claim ‘I was there when he did it!’.
Khaled’s proverbial overhead and scissor kicks send the crowd wild and they would be happy to pay the ticket just for that. Khaled’s goal of the season has been naturally caught by the CLUB camers crew and You can see it here. Remarkably another similar goal by Khaled was shortlisted for the Goal of the Season and his brace in the MG6 was vital to deprive Dads of a well-deserved victory…
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Yassin
It could not be anyone but Yassin. If you think a player like Messi can turn games at any time, well that would be an understatement for our FD. Yassin can be seen one moment saving a goal on the line and immediately after scoring on the opposite front by virtue of his trademark coast to coast solo run. Yassin is increasingly cutting a lonely figure on the pitch as opponents do not see the point of marking him or trying to stop him.
Soon after receiving the award an elated Yassin declared: ‘ I’m over the moon for this prestigious award and I would like to sincerely thank my teammates for never interfering with my game and letting me go solo. Not everyone could do that they way they do. I hope this is just a stepping stone to achieve even more glorious trophies like the Master Game. As Pele’ and Maradona needed to win singlehanded a World Cup to be among the best ever, laying my hand on the MG7 has now become my obsession. Finally, I would like to thank the CLUB for systematically refusing the ridiculous offers from virtually every club who can afford me. I’m happy to confirm I pledge my future to the CLUB who has turned me into the player I’m today”.
