A levelled playing field

The Club spared no expenses to get a levelled playing field with Francesco and Thomas kindly providing the soil to fill the holes on the pitch.
The new three figures ball found by Marco also contributed to make the show a glamorous one. Critics for once agreed that they have not seen a more joyous ball, courted in turns and taken for a ride by the very Masters of the game. The weather would not miss out either with a gorgeous sun welcoming the 19 players.
The Club algorithm this time, perhaps due to a glitch, did not appear to have picked the most balanced of teams but thanks to the heroics of Tony L the Bibbed goal remained unviolated for 20’ despite five close range attempts by the Unbibbed strikers. This morning burglars stole Tony’s bicycle but they could not take away his mettle and determination. As soon as they will know who the owner is, they’ll probably bring it back fully cleaned and with apologies.
It was though only a matter of time before the Unbibbed would be able to score: Meister Philipp was distributing penetrating balls with precision and pace on either wings for Julian and Marco or in the middle for Francesco. Chris F patrolled midfield while Giuseppe could be found everywhere anytime. The Bibbed defence could count on the return of the great Hossam but today the exuberance of the Unbibbed kids, Giuseppe and Marco, was just uncontainable. They scored and assisted each other: one header by Giuseppe on a pinpointed delivery by Marco send the crowd wild and opened the gates for the Unbibbed who found themselves 4-0 up courtesy also a brace by Chris F, celebrating his return in style.
At which point some rebalancing was needed: Giancarlo was swapped for Giuseppe, one third his age. The Bibbed fans could not believe their team could give up Giancarlo’s class and experience but perhaps was the only way to match Giuseppe’s price tag. The latter lived up to the expectations scoring a brace, soon matched by Diego and in no time the Unbibbed found themselves back in the game at 4-4. Game ON.
It is when the going gets tough that the tough get going: that is exactly what happened to the Unbibbed who refused to lose the game and with Chris again, Francesco and Marco brought the score back to a comfortable 8-5 level while Victor on the other side scored to also mark his comeback.
Chris F tried rightfully to bring the hat trick ball home (in fact he scored four) but the Club security team was under strict instruction to put it in the safe for the next match. He still left the pitch with a smile on his face as he was handed soon after the Man of the Match award for his decisive goals and a very productive game. Philipp, Giuseppe, Marco and Diego were deserving runners up.
