About Tango and Paso Doble

At one point the crowd erupted in a loud cheer. Everyone was wondering why, until Tony S was spotted in the distance. We left him last Saturday on crutches at the C&W hospital after the injury. Doctors ordered him two months of mandatory rest which he bluntly ignored. Cynics say he did that because his image revenues are linked to the numbers of games played but we all know Tony’s main mission in life is to score for his team and no one can restrain him. He therefore put himself on 24/7 collagen-fuelled drip that did the trick allowing him to please the fans today with his every move. Tony did not score but put the Bibbed defence on red alert attracting defenders and freeing up his mates allowing three of them to bag a brace apiece.
Right from the start the ten Unbibbed showed a football full of purpose, fast and with clean geometries. Energies were deployed scientifically so that the man down never showed: if any, the opposite. The tempo was willingly far from frantic alternating slow moves with sharp accelerations that cut out the Bibbed midfield to provide the Unbibbed strikers with inviting balls in front of the Bibbed goal.
It was Tango time all over the pitch but only one side seemed to know the right steps and tempo. Not surprisingly were Diego and Roberto the best interpreters with the paso doble the best piece of their repertoire scoring a brace each taking the result to a 4-1 for the Unbibbed with only Federico able to counter on the opposite side.
The gap though was not reflective of the chances created by the two teams and the Bibbed only had to blame themselves at times for the profligacy shown in front of goal to the point that Paride had often to come and help on corners with his aerial prowess leaving his goal unattended which once allowed the Unbibbed to score in a fast counterattack. Tony L in goal for the Unbibbed was back to his usual standards but was less busy than usual also thanks to a superb performance by Cethan who imposed his law denying access to the Bibbed strikers.
Giancarlo and Yasin twice gave hope to Bibbed but in the meantime on the opposite front Johannes put to work his left foot twice taking the score to. 6-4 for the Unbibbed with no time and energy left for a Bibbed recovery. Cherry on the cake Marco scored the golden goal and sealed a glorious victory for his team.
The Man of the Match award was not short of candidates with the three Unbibbed brace scorers tipped to win it but somehow surprisingly yet deservedly the accolade went to Cethan who showed consistent ability to destroy and create by stopping opponents and countering on the left flank linking defence and attack as he was a e-bike accelerating at will with no effort required. The claim that India has never had a football star of international stature always sounded reasonable. Until today.
