An epic 2-hour match that sees Maldives joining the Club
Professional footballers play for 90 minutes but that’s usually not enough for the Football Dads and Kids. They are so full of love for the game that they keep kicking the ball as long as they can. Today the match was so balanced that after two hours of play, with the score set at 5-5, calls for a Golden Goal were rejected a couple of times in favour of continuing play, in a bid to delay the inevitable end of the match.
The Unbibbed had two rookies in the team: Victor from Brazil, who had already played last week but this time with proper football boots, and David from France, a robust attacking midfielder with the technique of a young Platini. The new entries were quick to adjust to the fast tempo and world-leading tactics of their team, which included also Paride in goal, Hannes in defence, Francesco and Johannes in attack.
A third rookie joined the match around half time. Sporting a pair of multi-chromatic sneakers, and already dressed for sport, Ibrahim had been watching the game for a while. When asked if he wanted to play he didn’t hesitate to move from spectator to player, joining the Bibs, who were trailing behind. With Ibrahim, the Club welcomes a new nation: the glorious Republic of Maldives. A testament of the growing appeal of our global brand.
As for the match, forgive your humble reporter for not remembering much, except perhaps the fact that the Bibs played the most spectacular football in attack with Andrea and Yasin, a terrific double act that reminded us of Bebeto and Romario in the 90s. We hope to see more of that in the future.
