Bibs told “Win another day” as Khaled and team escape remuntada

Algorithms are often blamed for many wrong things these days but as always the Club gets the best deal and today they produced two most balanced teams mixing with art and science the key variables like age, market value, fitness data and many others not for disclosure.

In the deliberate absence of a coach (what could he teach us?) the Club relies a lot on data mining to alway reach the same conclusion: FDs and FKs are in a class of their own.

For the first 15’ there was nothing to separate the two team but the Bibbed soon realised they had a problem on the left side where Diego would consistently produce sublime balls in the middle of the Unbibbed box. On one Marco emulated Michael Jordan out jumping the air but his header went wide. It was just a rehearsal for what was soon to come: an ever better combination Diego-Marco with the latter converting with a midair volley an inviting pass from the unstoppable former.

That gave the Unbibbed the confidence to go and seize the moment: Khaled once again showed his ability to place the ball exactly where he meant by evading Tony’s dive with a powerful shot in the bottom right corner.

The Bibbed were in there for more abuse when Marco completed his brace by putting his team 3-0 up. At this point some tactical changes were overdue: Giancarlo went upfront and the whole team center of gravity moved up. Alessandro denied few times Yassin with fabulous saves and Khaled proved his worth in any part of the pitch blocking shots in front of goal
otherwise destined for sure glory.

In one of the frantic Bibbed attack Giancarlo hit a random ball the Hungarian way to finally evade Alessandro’s reach with Johannes applying the final touch for good measure. That boosted the Bibbed moral who poured into the opponents’ half thus exposing themselves to the Unbibbed counters allowing Khaled, on Francesco’s assist, and Leo with a fierce shot to put the score beyond reach at 5-1.

One of the unwritten golden rules in football is: never write off a FDs/FKs team. With Adam out for injury and Leo swapping side the Bibbed managed to score three times in rapid succession to shrink the gap to one goal only with Yassin, Hossam and Leo but at almost midday time was running out and when Francesco twisted an ankle the Ref blew the three whistle much to the chagrin of the Bibbed fans who were savouring a glorious remuntada.

‘Win another day’ players told them when the run to stands to salute them.

Leo, Marco, Diego jr and again Alessandro topped the online voters list for the Man of the Match award but after such a well rounded performance it was everyone’s guess that the award would have landed in Khaled’s hands.
