The combination of covid, holidays and injuries is making the Saturday matches intimate events.
Another glorious day on and off the pitch was shared by nine warriors. Curiously five of them were wearing white shirts and four black ones.
It was then easy to stage a Black v Whites leaving the bibs in the rucksacks.
Remarkably the teams were finely balanced to the point that for the first 10’ they locked horns without a goal being scored.
At one point though Giancarlo put in the middle of the box a ball whose destiny was only one of two: either converted by the striker or turned into an own goal by the desperate defender. The latter occurred, not once but twice, and the Blacks game grew in confidence from then on.
Chedan rose to the occasion and put a brace to his name with shots from the distance taking advantage of the Whites’ bigger goal to compensate for the extra man.
Tarek was excelling in short space with sharp dribbles and fine touches and everything seemed to be going the Blacks way.
It was though far from a one way street: the Whites had plenty to choose from both in terms of quality and stamina. Thomas came back from holiday reinvigorated and mounted a close hard to goal patrolling defense with Hannes. Johannes and Khaled had springs in their heels sending shivers down Dads’ spines ahead of the MG6. But it was down to Adam to open the score for the Whites and to double that soon after. His post covid position is far more advanced and we find him now a regular presence in the score sheet and the ball is a closer relative than it used to be though there is still room for improvement.
Despite this comeback the Blacks managed to maintain the lead as yet again Yasin was ‘anima e core’ of the team working an industrial number of balls with vertical accelerations alternated at twists and turns. The goods news for FDs is that Yasin is a Dad and will then side with the senior team in the MG5.
After one hour a major change occured: Chedan had to leave and Adam joined the Black for a 4 v 4 game. Profligacy in front of goal by the Blacks and the explosive form of the double act Johannes-Khaled with combined eight goals turned the score emphatically the Whites way to end the game at 9-7. They took also the golden goal with Khaled freed by a pinpointed pass a la Kevin De Bruyne by Johannes.
While taking the showers you could hear the Whites singing ‘The winner takes it all’ much to the Blacks’ irritation and disappointment.
Khaled with five goals would naturally claim and grab the Man of the Match Award while Dads are furiously debating who is going to mark him in the MG6.
Something Dads will have time to ponder in their sleepless nights.
