Cheer the (age) gap

The true meaning of FDs was very evident today when the game was graced by a 52 years age gap: on one side Arman, Tony’s son, who is only eight and on the other a couple of undisclosed over 60s. Privacy first.
The Club data team is working flat out to check if this is the widest ever age gap recorded in our history. Mind the gap? More a case of cheering it really and widening it further.
It was back being a full house after the summer break which in fact saw FDs playing every weekend. The game would not start until 10.30 as one goal would not stand up and required fine engineering skills last deployed for the design of the Golden Gate.
The Bibbed sported a Dad-Son formation with Ben and George patrolling ‘Holden Avenue’ on the right mirrored by Jeremy T and Louis on ‘Rue Trabau’ on the opposite side. Tony and Arman guarded defence along with Diego, Giancarlo and Victor, while Johannes and Francesco were in charge of inflicting damage in midfield and attack.
None would have bet on such a defence to be easily violated but there was little they could do when Antonio produced an unstoppable run to put the ball on Khaled G’s head who converted it in the low angle. Soon after Francesco, still energised by the Sicilian sun, set up Jeremy T for an equalising tap in.
From then on it was a ping pong game with Francesco bringing the Bibbed upfront only for Jeremy G to silence the Bibbed fans with a stunning shot from the distance. This is a player that is coming back stronger than ever after a double hip operation. No one was doubting it: yet this is something professional footballers can only dream of.
Louis added a brace in an overall super performance but unfortunately for the Bibbed so did Khaled on the other front to bring his tally to three for the day and claim the ball for himself.
At 5-4 for the Unbibbed there was only time for the golden goal: Louis just shaved the bar with a golden penalty but Francesco made sure the game ended with a deserved draw as today there was nothing to divide two supremely gifted teams who delighted
a very grateful crowd again in for another treat: a weekly privilege.
As for the Man of the Man award it was not short of candidates: Louis impressed, Francesco had a brace and an assist to his credit, Julien had his usual solid game and his tenacity was rewarded by a great goal but the natural recipient was always going to be Khaled, as versatile as ever scoring an hat trick of which two with deadly headers.
