“Did I win or did I lose?”

“Did I win or did I lose?” asked Thomas after the match. A perplexity caused not by concussion but by having changed team a couple of times throughout the game. Dressed with a vintage Bayern shirt, the German played an excellent match on both squads, touching the ball with finesse and showing a complete recovery from his last injury.
It was a special day for Thomas, as he celebrated his 61-st birthday, something the two rookies couldn’t believe. “Wow, he’s 61” – said 26-years old Arcelan, “that means we can do this for another 35 years!“. We can understand his surprise, it takes a while to understand that age is irrelevant and that being a Football Dads brings eternal youth. And by the way, 61 is just the beginning.
Arcelan (from Afghanistan) and the second rookie Avar (from Sri Lanka, pictured below) took their place on the Bibbed team, together with Paride, Hannes, Julien, Giancarlo and Dawood, who since his first match has established himself as a lethal and prolific striker. Very good news for the Dads as we look forward to the Master Game 9.
Dawood score all goals for the Bibbed, so many that it was hard to count them (probably 9 or 10). With few more games to go he might get a chance to improve on the new record set by Haaland with 35 goals in a season and counting, although of course Dawood has a tougher task than the Norwegian striker as the responsibility of winning a Master Game is far superior to the CL, FA, Finals and PL title put together.
Last year Master Game was sponsored by ‘One Direction’ and the Kids with an unprecedented victorious 8-0 lived up to make it going that way from beginning to end. That was shocking considering that all previous MGs ended with only one goal difference except the one on Chelsea training ground which recorded a 4-2 victory for the Kidss. There are now plenty of sponsors (the names obviously yet undisclosed) willing to bet on Dads recovery offering crazy money to associate their name with the revenge potential of the senior squad.
Dads will never ever disclose the money spent for the new skilful striker but just the prize money (also undisclosed) for the MG9 would justify an handsome return on the investment. This is creating a virtuous circle in that it provides Dads with the money to go out in the market and make the kind of signing that can single handed change the course of any game.
On Saturday the Bibbed left Dawood alone upfront and made the most from long passes and set pieces relying on him to do the rest scoring a bundles. But the Colours fought back, in a game incredibly lively with fast changes and quick counters.
Tactically there were some daring experiments. Giancarlo set himself to man mark Johannes: the jury is still out whether he did a good job or not as Johaness scored plenty of goals and raided the pitch more or less undisturbed.
Johannes carried the burden of the Colours scoring four. Nizard added two goals, taking the Colours within touching distance by just not quite enough to catch the Bibbed.
Francesco had few assists and scored two beautiful goals, the first with a low shot after fooling Julien, the second with a perfect curved shot on the upper corner that Paride could only watch going in goal. Later, he added a third one with the Golden Goal, scored from inside the box despite Hannes’ desperate attempt to stop him one way or another. Despite his hat-trick, however Francesco could not get home any ball, as Dawood had already taken three of them!
The Club data team has been trying to verify if the 9 or 10 goals he scored is the highest ever in a FDs game. Whether this was the case or not it was more than enough to hand Dawood a well deserved the Man of the Match award.
After such a thrilling and balanced match, the main topic of discussion was the coming Master Game. Details are still unconfirmed, although there are growing rumours that it will take place on Sunday 18th June. The Club’s Board have been researching prestigious locations, as there is a feeling that Wormwood Scrubs might not be glamorous enough for WAGS to attend (and it might be doomed after last year’s context). A decision will be taken shortly. In the meantime, while Kids are probably staying up late and skipping training, certain of their victory, Dads are subjecting themselves to a regime that Navy Seals dismissed as inhumane.
