Epic match ends with first ever “Golden Post”

Ill-assembled teams are a thing of the past. Since the Football Dads’ IT team released the new team-making algorithm, there is so much balance between Bibs and Unbibs that every match is a thrilling event. Today’s one, played by 21 players in a cold but clear day, was no exception.
The Unbibs were blessed to have Paride back in goal. But the Bibs could count on no one else than Tony L to protect their goal. Talk about balance. “Are we going to see a first-ever goalless draw?” whispered one of the pundits, immediately realising the sheer absurdity of the question. Before or after, in a way or another, Football Dads always find a way to score.
Still it took a good 15 minutes before the first ball went into the net. An own goal by Hossam who deflected in his own net a venomous corner kick, giving the Unbibs a well-deserved lead.
With a team composed by Hannes, Thomas, Yasseem, Darren, Adam, Andrea, Marco, Francesco, Johannes and Tony, the Unbibs appeared to be in better shape, with plenty of ideas and more space, despite having one man less.
But the Bibs, with players such as Massimo, Hossam, Roberto, Jeremy G, Sara, Ben, Karim and Diego, had plenty of options to use and were not afraid to use them.
The 1-1 arrived with the signature Jeremy Goodman shot, a play that is defined in the latest edition of the DAF (Dictionary of Amazing Football) as “a sudden powerful low-driven shot that passes undisturbed among many legs and ends in goal surprising the goalkeeper”.
To get ahead (2-1), they played another lethal card which is known all over South America as “Roberto’s kill”: an apparently effortless tap-in just in front of goal, that el Capitan used after Paride had stopped but not blocked Paride’s long shot.
Disappointed but unimpressed, the Unbibs reacted by increasing their push on the left wing, despite the presence of approx. 20 millions leaves on the pitch, and the right wing, hoping to confuse the opponents as the side moved constantly throughout the match.
Lots of good assists arrived in the Bibs’ box. Tony S was unlucky three times, his headers missing the goal narrowly, and he went very near to score with a nice half volley, something not usually in his repertoire. The Bibs defended solidly and when it was the right moment to hit again, they didn’t fail, bringing the score to a more comfortable 3-1.
The Unbibs’ efforts were finally rewarded where Hossam (him, again?) used his hand to prevent a ball from going into net. An indisputable penalty, that Darren however missed, shooting straight on the post. But the goal arrived just few minutes later, bringing the score to 3-2 when there were only few minutes left to play.
“Golden Goal! Golden Goal!” shouted the crowd, but after a few minutes, suddenly and unexpectedly, the Bibs ended the match (and claimed victory) by removing both of their posts. A never-seen-before move that Hossam referred to as “Golden Posts”.
Controversial? Maybe. The Unbibs (and the crowd) were a little disappointed with the abrupt ending, but ultimately time was up, and the Unbibs had deserved their victory.
