Francesco drops a poker firing Orange to victory on Mohammad farewell day

When Francesco scored two goals with his first two touches in the early minutes nobody among Colours panicked in the conviction he would have not passed the drug test. But then Francesco missed a goal and the old theory didn’t hold anymore: the chances of the game being invalidated evaporated and the Colours accepted they had to fight the hard way. There was still hope anyway as, in between those goals, Daoud, who else?, put Colours back in contention with one of his trademark hits.
There was disparity in terms of goalkeepers reporting for duty: Tony missed the game while Paride had sore hands from yesterday’s game and played outside. Only Alessandro was in between the two posts defending heroically the Colours’ goal.
Loaning out FDs players no doubt brings in big money but also exposes them to exhaustion: the CLUB will look into this and take the appropriate countermeasures.
In the meanwhile the Orange were playing a very entertaining and productive football with the Ragni family putting up a high class show with Andrea assisting and Francesco finalising: the tally between the two of them amounted to five goals and a couple of assists including a flying header by Francesco just under the bar out of the keeper’s reach on a cross by Nizard.
At which point some remix was due to replenish the Colours’ defence who had to rely on only one role defender, Hannes, who often ventured in the Orange half to try and narrow the score gap which was oscillating between three and four goals.
Hossam switched side offering both solidity in the back for the Colours as well as ability to dictate the counter from behind. It was match on with Daoud and Matteo combining well in attack and scoring three goals between them. The momentum was growing and peaking when Johannes sent a missile into the top left corner of the Orange goal turning each Colours fan in the stand into a believer.
But Orange were no pushovers: Dan, Yassin and Mohammad took back control of midfield letting the ball do the running much to opposition’s frustration. Goals from Paride, Yassin and Nizard fixed the result at 8-5 with no time for Colours to cause an upset. Nevertheless they felt they still had in them energy to go for the golden goal for which Colours fans didn’t not have to wait long: a well orchestrated move by Matteo and Daoud put a ball into the Orange box requesting only a ‘tap in‘ which Julien duly obliged.
The final 8-6 for Orange better reflected the second half half of the game, more balanced and hardly fought and gave Colours’ players every right to go and salute the fans with the chin up.
The Man and the ball of the Match were taken home unsurprisingly by Francesco who had arguably his finest match with FDs helped in the effort by Andrea’s assists: Italians like to keep it in the family. In the post match interview the most recurring question to Francesco was ‘What did you have for breakfast?!’ with the Italian giving nothing away.
It was a day of arrival and departure: Philipp paid a visit from Munich in exuberant mood after Germany’s victorious game v Scotland. On the departure front unfortunately Mohamed is leaving us to go back to Morocco 🇲🇦 after few years of outstanding contribution: he is a solid and prolific attacking midfielder who can play effectively different roles and make a difference in each of them.
We wish him and family all the best and hope he can still join us for games. Or perhaps we join him in Morocco for a Master Game as that is a fertile land for excellent footballers.
