Hossam’s “No Shot” scream not enough to stop a spirited Orange team

Hossam’s voice had never sounded so loud on the pitch: “NO SHOT! NO SHOT!”.
To the ears of the Orange team’s players this sounded like a pathetic plea. Why on earth should they listen to one of their opponents and refrain from trying to score, which is indeed the main purpose of playing football?
It turned out that Hossam’s plea was actually addressed to his teammates in defence. The intended meaning was “Don’t let them shoot“, which for brevity became “No shot”. This makes more sense, but regardless of Hossam’s cry, the Orange team kept shooting (and scoring) without hesitation, staying ahead on the score for the whole match, and ending it with a resounding 8-4 wins.
The Orange triumph is remarkable considering they played the entire match with one man less, but they were blessed with a super squad. Next to the four veterans (Hannes, Johannes, Ishan and Andrea) were two rookies that impressed for quality and speed: Basile from France (pic below) and a young passer-by who had been recruited on the spot while his Dad joined the other team. Still, it wasn’t a walk in the park for them.
The Colours used every possible tactics to stay in the game as long as possible. The most successful one involved Nizar shooting in goal from his own half at kickoff. The first time he did it the ball designed a perfect parable in the sky, taking Hannes by surprise and ending in goal. It’s fair to say that the German was not amused.
As the game progressed, every time the Colours conceded a goal, Nizar would get near the center circle and ask Francesco to pass him the ball at kickoff to try his miracle shot again.
The Italian, who holds a degree in Statistics, was not particularly keen to do it. He had calculated the probability of scoring again from that position as one in a billion, but could not say no to his imposing teammates.
“Paganini non ripete” is often said when referring to genius refusing to repeat a passage once played, but Nizar is a different type of genius, the type that knows no limits.
Receiving the ball at kick off, he took the time to take aim, calibrate his position and kick the ball again towards the goal, all while the Oranges team players watched in awe, unable to tackle him. Once again, the ball ended up in goal. Hannes reaction is best left to the imagination of the reader.
Still despite these impressive feats, the Colours could not score enough to stay afloat and even missed the opportunity to mitigate the loss with the Golden Goal.
After the match, Nizar and Hannes joked about the two goals, even recreating them for the camera (see top picture). Rookie Basile was a strong contender for the MOTM award, but ultimately the jury decided to award Nizar, recognising his precision and effectiveness. Next time there is a kickoff, keep an eye on him!
