Hyde Park Samba

A perfect pitch awaited 11 players on this sunny Easter Saturday morning in Kensington Gardens. The Colours team around new star player Daoud included two Brazilians, Victor (who had clearly honed his skills back home) and new recruit Raul. This was complemented by Al’s youthful brilliance and Francesco’s abundant skills.
Against this impressive squad stood a mix of youth and experience, with Diego the Younger, the Galal family ex Sara (off to higher duties), Hannes and Bijan.
An intense and finely balanced match ensued, with both teams tied at 3:3 when Francesco had to retire. Without his evidently critical presence, the Colours lost their previous rhythm, while the Bibs gained seemingly unstoppable momentum, swiftly moving four goals ahead.
Despite an impressive late attempt by the Colours to avoid the seemingly inevitable, the Bibs managed to protect their lead and took the game home. A lot of end to end stuff in a highly entertaining encounter, and – not to be deceived by the high goal tally – there was a lot of great goalkeeping, too.
