‘I have made eye contact with him!’
That is what a young boy shouted excitingly when Tarek was bidding farewell between two wings of fans, soon after scoring the golden goal.
The CLUB would not let him go quietly and so his departure was delayed by one week to have the exit champions deserve. The same reception will be staged at JFK where his plane will land today. His family knows about the celebrations and he is not expecting him anytime soon.
When asked about the prevailing emotion in this heart breaking moment, Tarek quipped ‘I did my way’.
As for the match today it was an intimate affair with seven players confronting each other in a 4 v 3 format.
Naturally the team with Johannes was one man down to compensate for his superiority on a day when Yasin was not there to balance the forces.
Tony L was back in goal but took advantage of his license to score by breaking the ice (much needed today) and putting the Unbibbed in front. His joy was though short lived as he suffered a leg injury and has to watch much of the game from the sidelines.
He will visit today the CLUB masseurs hoping for a gentle verdict. Tony L is much needed in goal for the Dads on last Sunday of September for the MG6.
His absence alone can alter the odds and bookmakers are watching nervously the situation.
With him out of the game also some of the early confidence the Unbibbed showed, evaporated over time. Each of them was blessed with a fine touch of the ball but somehow the web of passes didn’t not find a terminal in front of the Bibbed goal. Despite claiming at the end of the match a commanding 67.5% ball possession the Unbibbed did not end the game with a smile on their face.
The Bibbed took immediate advantage of Tony’s defection and from one goal down went to few up with Adam living up to his recent fame of ruthless stricker with a fast hat trick to his tally. Ben nevertheless managed to keep the Unbibbed within touching distance by also scoring three goals.
Yet this amazing performances paled into comparison with Johannes who put six on the back of the net and was a constant thorn into the Unbibbed defense. He filled the role of defender, midfielder and attacker running a countless number of coast to coast raids. Giancarlo wisely restraining his action to defence proved to be a constant feeder to him and Adam.
At 9-5 any hope for the Unbibbed to recover was verging on wishful thinking and the golden goal was wisely called for Tarek to score it with a powerful and precise shot in the low corner. A farewell goal fit for a Football Dad!
As for the Man of the Match award there was only one contender from the very start but the obvious Johannes selection was not ratified. In fact FIFA reset the ceiling recently but put a clause preventing Johannes from getting back to back awards. Still today performance was so overwhelmingly superior to warrant an exception and the trophy was convincingly handed over to him.
