Italians suffer defeat as Football Dads celebrate their return on royal ground

The power of the Football Dads is overwhelming, both on the pitch and outside. Last Saturday’s events, when the Park Police interrupted the game, had left them perplexed and disappointed. But that sentiment quickly disappeared, replaced by grit and determination to prevail. Fast forward one week and guess where the Dads are? Back on the Royal turf, this time with official blessing. All thanks to the unique leadership and diplomatic skills of our revered President Hossam. If the world leaders had only 1% of his qualities, we would live in a much better place.
Today eight Italians joined together to form their own version of the Azzurri team but realised they need an extra player to be even. Very rapidly, they offered an Italian passport to Victor, who was happy to join. Jorginho (another, less talented, Brazilian who switched his allegiance to Italy) immediately tweeted his congratulations “Muito bem, Victor! O Brasil é uma grande nação, mas para jogar futebol nada melhor do que a camisa Azzurra”
The Rest of the World (ROW) team was confident and ready to take the challenge. They suffered from the lack of a proper goalkeeper, but had an extra man and were able to play brilliant football from start to finish. The match was a very tight affair.
Italy scored three times but every time they did it, ROW was quick to find the net getting the score even. On 3-3 the match seemed ready to swing in any directions, as both team were creating (and missing) chances. Probably with the mind to tomorrow’s final, the Italians suffered one fatal distraction, a ball lost in midfield. The counterattack of the ROW was lethal and allowed them to take the lead for the first time (4-3) and to seal the win with a Golden Goal (5-3).
It was a match of such intensity that instead of giving a Man of The Match Award, the jury decided to offer a prize for the Best Altercation, which was awarded to Federico and Jeremy (winning over Leo and Yassin). It’s not clear what this prize entails, but according to the Club protocol, the two offenders next week will have to play together, hold hands throughout the game and seal the peace with a kiss at the end of it.
