Khaled seals Bibs victory as Giancarlo comes back from the cold

As he landed in London after his epic journey to Antarctica, Giancarlo had only one thing in mind: get to the park in time for the match. “If it’s Saturday morning, there must be football!” he was heard saying to the cabin crew as he disembarked from his plane.
Tiredness? Jet lag? Not for our own Giancarlo, who possess the powers of a superhero and is known in certain semi-secret circles as “Agent 060” for his age defiance. But despite his devotion to the Club, the man has a heart, and couldn’t resist the temptation to stop at his house to hug his beloved dog Leo and take him for a walk. Eventually he arrived on the pitch when the match had already ended and most players had left. Too late to play, but as soon as he looked into the eyes of his son Marco he realised what a terrific match had just taken place.
19 players, 10 goals, 15 corners, 100 minutes of spectacular football.
The first half was dominated by the Bibs team, who could benefit from an extra-man, and used this advantage in the best possible way. Attentive in defence, creative in midfield, fast on the wings, the Bibs covered meticolously every area of the pitch and moved the ball with uncanny precision to create chance after chance. The three goals that followed, two in action and a third one on a corner kick, were the logical effect of their supremacy. The Unbibs had tried hard to score but the usually dangerous Leo and Yassin found it hard to break a wall built by captain Massimo, who led the Bibs’ defence with his usual Chiellini-style.
At half time the Unbibs were approached by a passer-by named Jeremy who asked if he could join. Captain Hannes had little doubts and immediately recruited him. Despite being quite limited with his movements, Jeremy had a commanding presence and excellent control of the ball. With him on the pitch, the Unbibs’ play started to make sense, as a jigsaw with no more missing pieces.
The second half was a different story. An even match, with both teams creating a similar number of chances and scoring three goals each. However, it was not enough for the Unbibs to change the destiny of the game, as the lead secured in the first half continued to give Bibs the edge.
Still 3-goals ahead, the Bibs entered Golden Goal time with confidence and plenty of energy left and deservedly got it. It was Khaled to score it, the pinnacle of a performance that deserved him the Man of The Match award.
