Pablito forever

Today’s game was a rollercoaster with both teams believing at different times to have bagged a glorious victory only to see it snatched by the furious reaction of the opposite side.
It started with the Unbibbed imposing a fierce pace with clean geometries one of which put Marco in front of goal for the game opener followed up by another goal by Thomas who played the poacher role, once performed by Gerd Muller, with a fine touch evading Tony L. effort to save it. The positive Unbibbed momentum knew no boundaries and Marco added a third from a pass from Adam.
At 0-3 you could have forgiven the Bibbed for looking dejected but under the surface a desire for revenge was heating up to the point it could not be restrained. Jamal gave the signal scoring with a wonderful header and that turned out to be just the beginning of a glorious remuntada. Jamal added two more and was joined as a hat trick score by Yassin, who else, while Ben contributed with one to set the score at an unthinkable 7-3 for the Bibbed.
It was then the Unbibbed turn to prove that pride and resilience is a default feature of Football Dads and Kids. Defense definitely needed some reinforcement. Giancarlo today tried to deputise for the missing defenders but, to be honest, he didn’t do much to prevent the cascades of goals. Yet, his very presence gave his teammates a sense of belonging and a steadfast faith in the ultimate victory. Such confidence turned into euphoria when Hannes was snatched from competition for a sum that ridiculed the one Bayern Munich paid for Hummel.
For those in the knowledge it was not surprising to see the Unbibbed raise from the ashes and fly on the wings of enthusiasm thanks to a header from Paride who left its goal to score from a corner from Marco, another from Khaled Alg. At 7-6 for the Bibbed after 100 minute of intense fighting it was decided to leave it to the golden goal that Marco scored for the Unbibbed crowning a majestic game.
Despite serious contenders like Jamal, Paride and the ever present Yassin the voters choice for the Man of the Match went for Marco who scored many, assisted a few and run all match between defence and attack with a spirit of sacrifice more typical of older generations.
There was no fighting among the three hat trick scorers, Marco, Yassim and Jamal, about who would bring the ball home given the very damaged state it ended the game. The CLUB decided it will be put in the Hall of Fame as a memento of the epic battle.
Today Italians brought a flag (see pic) to honour Paolo Rossi who passed away. His goals in 1982 World Cup brought joy to a nation including a then 21 years old FD who was making noise in the streets with pots like drums. During Italy-Brazil 3-2 when Antognoni scored the 4th with few minutes we all run in the street to join wild celebrations only to realise that Antognoni’s goal was disallowed and Zoff made a vital save on the line and saved the day.
For Brazil it was a tragedy: they nicknamed a nasty flu that hit the nation ‘Paolo Rossi’. Once Pablito said that he took a taxi in Rio and as soon as the driver recognised him he asked the striker to get out from his car. Farewell Pablito, RIP
