The greatest thing since sliced bread

After the glamorous AGM night Football Dads and Kids where back to business on a green pitch flashed by a welcoming sun. The undisputed star of the Match was the brand new goal gifted to the Club by Luis.
Its importance today cannot be overestimated: when Marco scored the first official goal in it, the ball incredibly, instead of ending its run in the lobby of the Royal Garden Hotel as usual, inflated the net and amazingly stopped in it. Players looked at each other like they had just witnessed the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was a totally captivating and full absorbing experience that every players was eager to replicate soon after Marco’s historic goal.
An extra motivation, other than the inviting new netted goal was the chance to be captured on camera by the very Luis who patrolled the pitch from the sidelines in other to pass onto posterity these unforgettable moments. At the end of the Match the Club proudly revealed that Luis entered the UNESCO heritage list for services rendered to humanity though it could be easily argued that FDs deeds rather belong to the superhuman sphere. When in Capetown please take time to visit him, other than table mountain and camp bay beach to make your experience a truly unforgettable one.
Back to the game the Unbibbed mounted an immediate response with Giancarlo sending a missile shot into the top right corner but Chris H produced an unreal upward dive to tip the shot off. It was the first time in 13 years that Giancarlo was denied from that very spot.
The Bibbed ruthlessly took advantage of the man up and scored three more with Marco again, Tarek and Francesco with Richard on the opposite front refusing to surrender and finally beating Chris to keep the Unbibbed hopes alive.
At 4-1 and with the big goal to hit, the game needed some rebalancing: the two teams swapped side and Sara joined the Unbibbed for a transfer price that turned out to be a bargain as immediately the score went ballistic and the Unbibbed found themselves in the lead courtesy goals from Richard again, Marcello and a brace from Johannes with Giancarlo providing assists left, right and middle. One of which set up Andrea for a fine touch evading the keeper in a move reminiscent of a Pirlo-Pato double act.
Chris H proved lethal as well outside the goal and reduced the gap to a nail biting 6-5 for the Unbibbed: so desperate were the Bibbed to draw for the ultimate golden goal that decided to employ the services of a Bibbed dog (see pic) only for the Unbibbed to counter right away with a red one. A proper dog fight was on ever since.
The fresher Unbibbed still had energy to mount a fully fledged assault that resulted in an unbearable pressure for the Bibbed defence which was made to surrender through an own goal.
As for the Man of the Match it went remarkably close to a player from the defeated side. In fact if you throw to Chris H enough balls to be saved regardless, he will always by default claim the accolade but today Richard snatched the trophy as being at the heart of the Unbibbed victory and scoring twice.
There was no hat trick ball to take home unlike the two 10kg each new goals bags which inevitably went Giancarlo’s way. A heavy weight in the making.
