Victor shows FDs and FKs the way to World Cup while the Man of the Match plays a different tune, 600km away.
Football Dads and Kids is such an established franchise that even when you have a full bunch of core senators missing, a great attendance (20 players ish) and default fun is always guaranteed. Perhaps where the lack of seniority showed the most was in teams selection as the Orange made the smartest moves to secure the best talents available in the market: yet again access to funding was never a constraint.
The resulting game was by no mean a one way street, vibrant to the end but still allowed Orange to close the match with a sound 11-7 victory.
There was as usual a Rookie in the person of young Zac (see pic below) who, by the look of it, is a Liverpool supporter sent to FDs and FKs to make the grades. Owing to our much more dynamic rhythm of playing vs the Reds, Zac has been invited to replace the iconic ‘You’ll never walk alone’ into a more fitting ‘You’ll never run alone’…
Victor made a spectacular reappearance by generously gifting his mate players the new official World Cup ball (see pic): non only it is a very pleasant surprise but extremely useful to those FDs and FKs playing in the next World Cup who will have a chance to practice with the official ball… Thank you Victor: once more we owe you and we miss you when you are not around!
Al had a hell of a game returning to the Kensington Gardens pitch and would have deservedly clinched the Man of the Match trophy, had not something truly exceptional happened.
Our heroic Hannes on Saturday played the audience to a very different tune to an equally ecstatic crowd: with the support of no less than the Bonn Klassiche Philarmonie Orchestra of some 50 elements in the Aula Magna of Bonn University he played Rachmaninoff, 2nd piano concert, C minor. Only true music experts would fully appreciate the bravery of it. After 45’ of passionate playing he was given a long lasting standing ovation by the few hundreds strong captivated audience, a bit like the ones he gets on the pitch with the notable difference that this was real.
It was a performance as moving as it was impeccably executed.
It is the first time that the Man of the Match award is assigned to someone 600km away but no one argued with that, rather decided to congratulate Hannes with his own precious vote.
Separately you have a video with the final part of Hannes’ concert.
