This time the chromatic white and black combination didn’t work and two teams had to go back to the traditional Bibbed v Unbibbed formation for a match made by 11 players in a 6 v 5 format. There were important comebacks like Tony Laskar who last played at the beginning of March and has been nursing injuries at the wrist and shoulder. You might be able to delay this kind of warriors but you just cannot stop them. Another welcome re-entry was Julian S. aus Nuremberg who has been missed for a long while and was back in style enjoying a great game with his compatriots.
Hossam, still dealing with an ankle problem, was bravely back playing in goal for the Bibbed with a reduced capacity. Yet his moral stature provided support and encouragement to the Bibbed which had to endure a bumpy ride.
That was not easily predictable as any team sporting players like Yasin and Khaled would have been tipped for a ‘walk in the park’ type of victory.
The flair and creativity present in the Bibbed team was confronted by the compactness and solidity of the Unbibbed squad moulded around the German block made by Hannes, Thomas, Johannes and Julian, complemented by Ben in midfield with licence to score. And score he did with his very first touch handing the Unbibbed an early lead. The way the German block moved and interacted was exemplary: the ball did the travelling and they made sure there was always a team mate to pick despite the numerical inferiority.
If you put together the likes of Paul Breitner, Franz Beckenbauer, Lothar Matthaus and Karl Heinz Rummenigge you probably would have had a different output and there is no prize for guessing whether that would have been lower or higher. The Teutonic quartet was today playing like a full orchestra and each of them felt comfortable in driving a machine aimed at causing maximum damage when attacking. On the defensive side they rigorously
applied a combination of man and zone marking with a double up which left little space for manoeuvre to players as fast as Yasin who had to endure an heavy duty marking. At some point adrenaline was running so high that the game had to be stopped and resumed only when apologies were exchanged.
After Ben opener it was Johannes, who found a natural partner in Julian, to run riot among the Bibbed defenders.
Yasin sparked a hope of recovery for the Bibbed when he scored from an unbelievable distance, kicking the ball from right under Kensington Palace.
Khaled added a brace but the Unbibbed made sure they always had a secure lead fixing the final score at 6-4 and taking home also the golden goal.
Johannes dominated the pitch, scored four and also played a key defensive game embodying the total player role model. Fans knew well before it was announced that the Man of the Match award was going only one direction.
Finally it is farewell time for our star player TAREK who is going back to the States. He has been a very influential figure, always in a good mood and we’ll miss him dearly. May be he will start FDs USA. Who knows?
Tarek will do his best to attend the Master Game 6 on last Sunday in September.
The CLUB as a token of appreciation for his contribution will make the corporate jet available to facilitate Tarek’s presence at the MG6.
